This year, it's "save $10 on any sale or clearance purchase of $25 or more before 1 p.m." Usually they run a 20% off entire purchase coupon.
Compare:
Under "save $10" scenario:
Non-sale $50 item: no discount
Item marked down from $50 to $20: no discount.
Item marked down from $100 to $80: $10 discount (adjusted price: $70)
Total: $150
But under 20% off entire purchase scenario:
Non-sale item $50
Item marked down from $50 to $20
Item marked down from $100 to $80
Total: $150 x 20% off = $120.
What gives? I suppose it gives you a nice savings if you are buying a single, $25 item -- but that's hardly going to stimulate retail sales. Any thoughts? Why is Macy's "Black Friday" coupon so lame this year?
Alll of that crap's lame...I ain't getting up at 4 am just to beat down a bunch of old ladies or mothers with screaming children!!! **gag**
